SCHOLARSHIPS

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR FALL 2023 APPLICATIONS:

(1) Peter and Michelle Bernard Scholarship for Medical and Allied Health Sciences

Award: $5000 awarded the Spring Semester of academic year
Minimum requirements in brief:

a. Student must be enrolled in the Medical and Allied Health Sciences concentration in the Ray P. Authement College of Sciences
b. 3.0 minimum grade point average
c. Student must be classified as either a junior or a senior
d. Preference may be given to students exhibiting financial need
e. Student must be a Louisiana Resident and preference may be given to a student from Saint Martin Parish

(2) Joel L. Fletcher Endowed Scholarship in Biology

Minimum requirements in brief:
a. Student recipient must be admitted to the University and enrolled as a full-time student
b. Student must have at least a cumulative 3.0 G.P.A. to eligible
c. Student must be classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior
d. Student must be pursuing a degree in Biology in the Ray P. Authement College of Sciences

(3) The Thomas C. Darcy, M.D. Endowed Scholarship

Award: $500-1000 awarded Spring semester of academic year
Minimum requirements in brief:
a. 60+ hours
b. 3.5 minimum grade point average
c. Pre-med major
d. Financial need

(4) The John Tolson, Jr., Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1000 awarded Spring semester of academic year
Minimum requirements in brief:
a. 60+ hours
b. 3.5 minimum grade point average
c. Pre-med major
d. Financial need

(5) James M. Willet Endowed Scholarships

Award: $500-700 awarded Spring semester of academic year
Minimum requirements in brief:
a. Preference given to Louisiana resident
b. Junior status (60+ hours)
c. 3.2 minimum grade point average
d. Must be majoring in the Biological Sciences (which includes Biology, Microbiology, and Resource Biology and Biodiversity).
e. Financial need

(6) Mrs. John Jacob Fa-Kouri Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Biology/Pre-Med

Award: $500 awarded Spring semester of academic year
Minimum requirements in brief:
a. Preference to Louisiana resident
b. Junior status (60+ hours)
c. 3.5 GPA
d. Financial need

(7) The George P. Coussan Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1000 to $3000 - to be used to offset Louisiana medical school tuition fees - awarded at the end of Spring semester of academic year. Student does not have to be Louisiana resident.

Minimum requirements in brief:

a. Awarded to a graduating senior with the highest grade point average at the end of the Fall semester. Must applying to a Louisiana medical school.
b. A graduating senior who has applied for and meets the criteria to attend a Louisiana medical school.
c. A 3.5 GPA is required.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TURNING IN APPLICATIONS:

Please return your application in a labeled envelope to Dr. Bruce Felgenhauer's mailbox in the main office (ROOM 106) of BILLEAUD associated with each of the scholarships listed. Only ONE application should be filled out. List ALL scholarships eligible in the blank at the top of the form. Do NOT return the application to the ULL Scholarship office. In addition, please attach all college transcripts (transcripts issued to student is acceptable). Please place your APPLICATION, a PHOTO OF YOURSELF, and COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS in a large brown envelope addressed labeled "Your name, date, and PPS Scholarships."  CLICK HERE FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP FORM!
